What is Yoga & Intentional Movement?
There are many different disciplines of yoga, but they all combine physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. As “newer” yoga practices develop and often transform into more “aerobic” classes, the breath work and meditation practice become diluted.
Intentional Movement incorporates yoga with brain/body integration exercises. Focusing more on synchronizing breath with movement and building balance between the brain and body.
What is a Session/Class like?
Classes are similar to a restorative or slow flow class yoga class. Many of the poses are the same but incorporate brain/body integration techniques such as crossing midline and rhythmic breathing.
Benefit
Classes are accessible to all students regardless of physical or mental capacity. Modification can be made for chair yoga or mirroring (for those physically unable to cross midline).
Classes are also less intimidating and provide the same benefits of brain/body integration.
